ABCCLC Prize - $100

ABCCLC's mission is to help the children of the world learn to love to learn. To this end, they have developed an arts and community-based approach to learning and recreation using community Arts resources, both individual and institutional, where individuals would have a better quality life, cultural Institutions would be more self-sustaining, and economic conditions in our communities would improve, such as jobs for teachers, artists, librarians, musicians, etc.

Possible Project Ideas

• Providing students with learning resources and a fun way to chat and interact with Wilbur.
• A check-in system at locations (libraries, museums, etc), so that when I visit, I am greeted by Wilbur and he tells me a bit about the location.
• When I check into locations, I can share via facebook / twitter / etc that I saw Wilbur.
• Students earn points for visiting various cultural institutions, and they can view leaderboards for who has been active in the community.

William Kennedy is a managing partner at Ardan Studio in Miami, Florida, a mobile, web, and systems development company. He is also the author of the book Go in Action, the author of the blog GoingGo.Net, and a founding member of GoBridge which is working to increase Go adoption through diversity.

Jason Rotella

Jason is currently a Software Architect with GE Digital where he builds Industrial Internet of Things-based applications. Jason has previously held positions spanning from computer microarchitecture to supercomputer administration. Jason is co-founder and co-organizer of the Capital Region Google Developer Group and is the Capital Region Director of StartFast Code. Jason is committed to growing the technical and entrepreneurial ecosystems in Upstate NY. Jason is particularly honored to be involved in Hack Potsdam, as he is an alum of both Potsdam College and Clarkson University.

Jeanna Matthews

Professor at Clarkson Univeristy

Jeanna Neefe Matthews is an associate professor of Computer Science at Clarkson University (Potsdam, New York). Her research interests include virtualization, cloud computing, computer security, computer networks and operating systems. At Clarkson, she leads several hands-on computing laboratories including the Clarkson Open Source Institute and Clarkson Internet Teaching Laboratory. Students in these labs and in her classes at Clarkson and Cornell have been winners in a number of prestigious computing contests including the 2001, 2002, and 2004 IBM Linux Challenge, the 2005 IBM North American Grid Scholar's Challenge, the 2005 Unisys Tuxmaster competition, and the 2006 VMware Ultimate Virtual Appliance Challenge. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of ACM as the Chair of the Special Interest Group Governing Board. She has written several popular books including "Running Xen: A Hands-On Guide to the Art of Virtualization" and "Computer Networking: Internet Protocols in Action". Jeanna received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1999, a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Ohio State University in 1994 and a B.A. in Spanish from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 2015.
